Can Zookeeper run on a remote machine? Posted by Nick Charalampidis on 29 August 2010 Information: Can Zookeeper run on a remote machine?
Summary: To run Zookeeper on another machine you will need to have a Zookeeper dongle and download the Zookeeper software. You will also need to make sure that the version of Zookeeper you are running is the same software version as the Hippotizer system. I.e. if the Hippotizer is running 3.0.13 then you need to download and install Zookeeper 3.0.13.
You can use any Windows XP or Windows 7 system with a Gigibit Ethernet network port.
On the Hippotizer system the HippoNet network port should be used when connecting to same network as the remote system.
When setting up the IP address unless you have changed the network settings of the Hippotizer from the default, the IP address of the remote system should be 192.168.0.X (X indicates a different number to that of the Hippotizer system or any other devices on the same subnet) and the subnet will need to be the same on both units. The default subnet is 255.255.255.0.
