Reported Issue: A common issue is that on Play/Prep machines the installer either fails to run or during the installation deposits folders into incorrect directories. This is due to the use of non-latin characters in the Windows Username. Whilst changeable there are a few steps to ensure it is completely changed on Windows (and avoiding having to re-image the machine).
Part 1: Step 1: Press the Windows Key + R or open Run Step 2: Type 'netplwiz' and hit enter/OK Step 3: Highlight the User and click Properties Step 4: Change the User name to that of a standard Latin character name Step 5: Click Apply and Ok twice
Part 2: Step 1: Press the Windows Key + R or open Run Step 2: Type 'regedit' and hit enter/OK Step 3: Navigate to the following key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\MICROSOFT\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\ProfileList Step 4: Click on the 'S-1-5-21-xxx...' key. If multiple, find the one with the path for the profile folder at the 'ProfileImagePath' value Step 5: When you find the key, double click the 'ProfileImagePath' and rename to the your new user name e.g. C:\Users\Alex Step 6: Click OK, close the registry and restart
Part 3: Step 1: After a restart, you will be signed into a temporary profile. If a pop-up appears, click close Step 2: Open Windows Explorere and navigate to 'C:\Users' Step 3: Right click on the folder with the previous Username and click Rename Step 4: Rename to the new Username and hit Enter Step 5: Click Continue if asked to provide Administrator access. Step 6: Restart the machine
