Screenthief Troubleshooting Posted by Sumesh Varambhia on 08 November 2010
Summary: Running Screenthief fails to connect to the Hippotizer Solution: Below are a number of common software problems that may occur when trying to use the screen thief application on windows XP or 7 systems. You should check these once you are sure the network and IP-addresses have been set up correctly between the Hippotizer unit and the system running screenthief.
1- If the software crashes as soon as you start it, or freezes as soon as you run it, this is probably because there is not a valid network connection on that PC. 2- If the software doesn't start up after you run it, you are probably logged in as a user which doesn't have local administrator rights. 3- The Software runs, but fails to connect; this can be caused by firewall applications running on the windows machine. Check versions of software on both applications match. 4- When installing you get a side by side error. This is caused by not having C++ installed on the machine. Please install C++ you can do this by running the Hippotizer installer then cancelling it.
