How To: Control Hippotizer with Telnet using a Username and Password
The Hippotizer software can be controlled with Telnet commands; these are documented in the manual. You have the option to require a username and password before a remote user can issue commands to Hippotizer. We have noticed that when using the Windows supplied Telnet program (telnet.exe in the windows system32 folder in Win XP), the first login attempt will always fail when entering credentials.
There are two ways to work around this problem. The second attempt to login with the same credentials will work correctly. Or, use the program PuTTy (freely available online) to send Telnet commands.
More information: If you do not use a username and password, then the windows Telnet program will work perfectly fine.
