Okay, that works great if I have files to be played back that loop and never matter where in the file they are. However, if I am using two machines to do a blend, or just have a video roll that needs to be frame synced between them, for a 1 time play how would that work? In V3 the syncro component would allow this. Using timecode generator, or any timecode for that matter, does not allow me to use any play controls. What if I want to pause the clip, play it backwards, slow it down, etc...
We have done before with mixture of 1 unit of Karst V4, 1 unit of V3 Hippotizer HD, 2 unit of Grasshopper and 1 unit Of V3 Portamus. We have the medias in all the servers. All the servers are linked via Art Net to MA2 Lighting Console, no timecode or syncro component used. All the visuals can be paused and played backwards, slow down at the same time from the MA2.
I too have used lighting consoles to control multiple servers before to, and do gain all these controls, the problem is, while it may be extremely close, there is no way of frame locking the machines. If you use a timecode generator like Suzy suggests, you get the frame lock, but even from a lighting desk you lose all playback controls. Try playing the clip backwards while it is on timecode, doesn't work so well.
since you are familiar with the syncro in V3, the closest you can get to that in V4 is through SyncManager. Let's say you have 2 systems, A and B. Both systems need to have the same media map. 1. Add SyncManager on both systems. 2. On System A, set layer 1 to output to sync bus 1 3. On System B, in sync manager, enable the sync bus link and set system A to be the master 4. On System B, set layer 1 to receive from Sync Bus 1 Of course, this works for multiple systems as well.
